When it comes to gun sights in apex legends, a clear field of vision is king. And while all accessories in the game will look the same from gun to gun, not all iron sights in the game are created equal. Some legendary weapon skins have so-called pay-to-win iron sights, which generally obscure the wearer’s field of vision much less than the weapon’s default iron sights.
One of those pay-to-win iron sights is the Cutting Edge R-99, one of the reactive skins from the Season 7 battle pass. However, even the developers and designers who made the iron sights of that skin probably didn’t have this bug in mind when they created it.
While fiddling with the gun, Aceu took aim down sights and noticed that the normal front of the iron sight was completely invisible, leaving only the pipe-shaped cross in the middle floating above the rest of the gun model. The effect made the gun feel like it essentially came with 1x HCOG by default.
While this was the rare occurrence of a bug that really helps players, it unfortunately didn’t last. After reviewing the bug for a while, he started looting another kill box. After exiting the kill box menu, ADSed once more, and the weapon had already returned to its normal aiming point.
“He had the best bug in the world and now he’s bug free,” Aceu laments, and it’s easy enough to see why. If the error persisted, his R-99 would have possibly the cleanest look in the game, without the need for any accessories. In fact, the buggy version of the Cutting Edge skin might even have been better than any attached sights I could have found for the weapon.
Of course, having the “cleanest” sight is a matter of personal preference, and having good iron sight is only a small part of all the variables that go into a fight. But for those who obsess over pay-to-win views, this bug could be the holy grail.
