Earlier this week, the Dead Island 2: Day One Edition was leaked on Amazon and featured a Lenny Kravitz-like warrior on the box cover. So it stands to reason that Gamescom 2022 ended with two trailers (cinematic and gameplay) for the long-awaited zombie-slaying sequel.
We follow a chiseled survivor named Jacob as he leaves the safety of his (bloody) condo and ventures into a Californian hellhole teeming with the undead. He kills several opponents with an empty rifle, impaling them on their rotting bodies and smashing their heads on the pavement with his wooden butt.
The gameplay trailer shows picturesque beaches, abandoned suburbs, cratered city streets, and still-lit carnivals. In what is one of the most graphic clips I’ve ever seen on a game show, we see the player-character pummel zombies with blunt objects, kick opponents off rooftops (parkour mechanic?), and shoot tanks. of gasoline to engulf flaming hordes.
Dead Island 2 is a first person action RPG with six playable characters. And according to a designer who appeared on stage, the bloody game has a pulpy, irreverent tone and gameplay that’s all about “experimenting with your preferred methods of killing zombies.”
Dead Island 2 hits PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC with a punch and a kick on February 3.
