In a rather unlikely turn of events, the former PlayStation exclusive death stranding is heading to the ‘dark side’ – it’s set to be available to PC users via Xbox Game Pass in August. While it’s not heading to Xbox consoles just yet, it will soon make the jump to the Microsoft-run service, with enthusiastic Game Pass subscribers getting to experience Hideo Kojima’s piss-filled, wild masterpiece on PC from now on. 23 August 2022.
death stranding It was previously a PlayStation 4 exclusive when it launched in 2019, and while it has since made the jump to PC platforms, its inclusion on Xbox Game Pass is pretty wild.
The news was first teased via images and avatars on the PC Game Pass Twitter page, but many refused to believe that the calm and gloomy scenery on display was related to death stranding not at all, given its ties to Sony. As has now been confirmed, the game will officially launch on the subscription platform shortly, despite doubts online.

For now, the game will remain PC-only on Game Pass and won’t land on Xbox consoles.
While the news is a huge surprise, it benefits Sony’s recent push into the PC gaming landscape. In early 2022, the company announced that it was aiming to generate US$300 million in PC gaming sales by fiscal 2022.
The recent launch of marvel spider man on PC was part of this push, as were various ports for past exclusivities like horizon zero dawn Y past days. In the future, Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales and the Uncharted Collection: Legacy of Thieves It will also be available for PC, helping Sony’s ambitions.
It is not clear how the compensation agreement works for death stranding on Game Pass, but the deal is also likely to benefit Sony’s overall goal of making an impact in the PC market.
