How to redeem League of Legends Star Guardian 2022 tokens even after expiration

The League of Legends 2022 Star Guardian event was not as successful as players or developers would have liked. During a long-awaited celebration, the event was marred by bugs that prevented players from redeeming the rewards they had earned from completing quests.

This caused Riot Games to extend the end time of the event for a considerable period. In light of the negative reaction from the community, they even offered additional rewards to players affected by the bugs.

📢 [LoL/TFT] Star Guardian tokens were deactivated yesterday in preparation for the release of Steel Valkyries. If you had any unspent Star Guardian Tokens, please submit a ticket by September 7 at 11:59 PM PT and we’ll help you unlock your rewards. Submit a request: riot.com/3b4O2iy

However, the event eventually ended on August 24, 2022, with the start of patch 12.16, which introduced a significant number of balance updates focused on pro play, the Udyr rework, and the Steel Valkyries 2022 event.

Steel Valkyries will replace Star Guardians, whose rewards and quests expire with a new update. While the event has ended, Riot Games confirmed that players will still be able to redeem their Star Guardian Tokens and earn exclusive event rewards.

Riot Support has revealed that even though the Star Guardian 2022 event ended a couple of days ago, players with an excessive amount of tokens will still be able to use them for more rewards.

The developer has mentioned in the tweet that,

“Star Guardian tokens were deactivated yesterday in preparation for the release of Steel Valkyries. If you had any unspent Star Guardian Tokens, please submit a ticket by September 7 at 11:59pm PT and we’ll help you unlock your rewards.”

The service will be available until the first week of September. League of Legends players will need to submit a request on their official support website only if they have tokens left over from the event.

In doing so, Riot Games will be looking for ways to help them get the rewards they can’t get while Star Guardian 2022 is still alive.

The Starguardians 2022 will not be replaced by the new Steel Valkyries event, which has introduced a host of new champion cosmetics to the existing skin line. While players can earn the tokens by completing free missions, those who have purchased the Event Pass for 1,650 RP will have more gifts to unlock. They will be automatically rewarded with 200 tokens and four Steel Valkyries 2022 orbs.

In addition to the Event Pass, League of Legends fans will also be able to purchase the exclusive event bundle, which will contain the following loot:

  • All the rewards present in the Event Pass
  • Janna’s Champion Fragment
  • Cybernetic Halo Janna Skin
  • Cyber Halo Janna Icon

The Steel Valkyries 2022 event is expected to last a fortnight and end on September 8, 2022. However, tokens purchased through the event will be valid for an additional month and will only expire after October 3, 2022.

Hopefully, the new event won’t witness the same level of bugs that Star Guardians 2022 had.
