Internet divided on what color to call Gatorade lemon-lime

Five years ago, people argued whether a dress was blue and black or white and gold. Now they are discussing a different product: Gatorade flavored with lemon-lime.

Consumers tend to refer to different types of Gatorade by color rather than flavor, but people don’t know how to refer to this popular flavor.

The TikTok account of the University of Tennessee Volunteers American football team appears to have kicked off the big debate with a video of players arguing over the pitch of the bottle they’re holding, the New York Post informed.

The video, which has 461,400 views and 48,600 likes, is captioned, “Is lemon-lime gatorade yellow or green?”

“There’s been a lot of talk about the color of lemon-lime Gatorade,” says one of the players. “And honestly, man, I’m not here to sugarcoat things; if you think this is yellow, I need you to re-evaluate your vision.”

“It’s yellow, you’re psychotic,” jokes another player. “How is that green? Look at the grass!

“It’s highlighter yellow,” says one, to which another argues that it has a ‘neon green’ tint.

“Where do you see yellow? Do you know what yellow looks like? she teased her.

One player even took a green grape and held it next to the Gatorade to show that it is the same color.

People in the comments section were similarly confused and unsure where they stood on the Gatorade debate.

“It was yellow until you put that grape next to it,” one person wrote.

“I’m not going to lie, the green grape next door makes me reevaluate my eyes,” admitted another.

“I’m from the yellow team, but he made a point with the grape, he doesn’t lie,” commented one user.

“If you tell me to buy you a yellow Gatorade, you will get Lemon-Lime. Tell me to have a green Gatorade, you will get Fierce Green Apple”, someone argued.

“My whole life has been yellow, but my friend turned out to be a green grape and the Gatorade turned out to be neon green,” said one.

“It’s yellow. I have an argument to back it up. ‘Yellow 5’ is the only colorant listed in the ingredients section,” one user concluded.

The official Gatorade TikTok account even chimed in, commenting, “Damn why you gotta throw me like that!”

The charge has reached out to Gatorade to see if they’re willing to clear up the color confusion.
