The Bang & Olufsen Beosound Theater TV stand will also turn your TV upside down

Today at IFA 2022, Bang & Olufsen unveiled the Beosound Theater Dolby Atmos soundbar, which doubles as both a stylish speaker and a motorized TV stand. The Beosound Theater is an all-in-one sound system that contains 12 speaker drivers, including two custom-built 6.5-inch long-throw woofers. However, if you have bigger plans for your audio setup, the theater can also form the heart of a Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 surround sound system, thanks to its seven built-in outputs and support for up to 16 external speakers.

Billed as a “sculptural modular construction,” the interface stand is motorized, allowing the TV to swivel so users can find the best possible viewing angle, though if you don’t need it, you’ll be able to buy the soundbar for separated from the support. You can also replace the sound bar later (as well as your TV) later on if it suits you. The Beosound Theater interface stand (most people would call it a TV stand) also includes a compartment where you can hide cables and TV boxes.

Beosound Theater will be available in a variety of finishes and customizations, although no details on these have yet been provided. A cloth-topped version will retail for $6,890, while a wood-topped version will retail for $7,990, and both will be available to purchase starting October 1.

You’ll need to check individual speaker compatibility, but Bang & Olufsen points out that even its decades-old floorstanding speakers, including the Beolab Penta, Beolab 6000 and Beolab 8000, can be linked together to form a multi-speaker sound system. Bang & Olufsen also notes that the Beosound Theater comes with a new bass management feature that allows all connected speakers to work as a single unit rather than just sending the bass to the strongest speaker available, which is typical of some other systems.

B&O claims the soundbar’s design was inspired by sailboats, and even though it looks like a big slab of aluminum, it can still be wall-mounted if you don’t want to put it on the floor. Fortunately, the required wall bracket is included with the Beosound Theatre, plus a separate bracket for the soundbar to rest on a table or desk. The aluminum “wings” are also stretchable, so that, according to Bang & Olufsen, almost none The TV can be connected to the Beosound Theatre.

“We know that our customers want to invest in products that last, so the Beosound Theater has been designed in a modular way to outlast many televisions throughout their lives. We have created a solution that allows you to upgrade your product rather than replace it, and a product that can evolve with you over time,” said Head of Product Circularity Mads Kogsgaard Hansen.
