Gamescom 2022 is currently underway in Cologne, Germany. The show has been a staple of the video game industry since 2009 and has featured some of the most influential games of all time. With E3 in flux, Gamescom is the show to watch for more on the year’s hottest releases. These are the developments that we are most excited about.

Based on the award-winning book series by Frank Herbert, Dune Awakening is an open world survival MMO set on the harsh world of Arrakis. You’ll have to survive extreme heat, dehydration, and massive sandworms as you battle your way to world domination. Hogwarts Legacy

Fans of the Harry Potter series will be delighted to see Hogwarts Legacy, which acts as a prequel to the original book series, putting you in the shoes of a young wizard who arrives late at Hogwarts. We knew the game was coming for a while, but we didn’t know any plot details until now. This latest trailer also gives us a look at the pre-order bonuses. New Tales from the Borderlands

Arguably as popular as the mainline Borderlands FPS game series, the narrative-focused Tales From the Borderlands series is coming back from the dead. The last episode of the series ended on a cliffhanger in 2018 and this new title aims to continue the story when New Tales From the Borderlands hits major platforms in October 2022.

Friends Vs Friends joins the ever-expanding library of competitive arena shooters. This game aims to set itself apart from the competition with a card-based energy system that makes it a Fortnite meets Yu-Gi-Oh! type of experience It will have 1v1 and 2v2 modes and the developers boast about the lack of microtransactions. Atlas Fallen takes place after a catastrophic event. You use your gifts to help people rebuild their lives, summon weapons to take on legendary monsters, and discover the secrets hidden in the sands. Atlas Fallen will be exclusive to PS5 when it launches in 2023.

From the developers behind Subnautica and the narrative art of New York Times bestseller Brandon Sanderson comes Moonbreaker, a turn-based adventure game. The game has a miniature painting-inspired customization feature to make each character unique to the player. Moonbreaker will be released in September 2022 and you can wishlist it here.
