Western Digital’s PRO-BLADE range revolutionizes data storage

Western Digital (WD) has revealed several innovative new products under SanDisk and SanDisk Professional.

At the company’s ‘What’s Next Western Digital’ event, WD introduced its new PRO-BLADE modular SSD ecosystem.

Designed with creatives in mind, the products in the new range will allow users to quickly and easily swap out lightweight and reliable high-performance SSD loaders for easy movement of high-resolution content to and from devices.

The new ecosystem consists of three components: the PRO-BLADE SSD Mag, the PRO-BLADE TRANSPORT Portable SSD Enclosure, and the PRO-BLADE STATION Desktop SSD Enclosure.

As the name suggests, the SSD mag is a small, slim mag that, when combined with the enclosures, creates high-performance, portable, and scalable SSD storage solutions perfect for those who create on the go.

The small size of the magazines allows you to carry terabytes of storage without excess bulk, which can be quickly changed to access different content. Loader sizes range from 1TB to 4TB.

Engineered to be tough inside and out to protect your precious work, SSD Mags are capable of surviving a 3M drop and just over 4,000lbs of crush resistance.

When combined with the PRO-BLADE TRANSPORT Portable SSD Enclosure, users gain access to a premium portable, modular SSD for lightning-fast workflow scalability. When magazines are installed in the TRANSPORT casing, read and write speeds top out at 2000MB/s, while USB-C (20Gbps) connectivity means cameras can record content directly to the SSD, giving streamlines the creative process.

For when you get back home to edit, Western Digital has the PRO-BLADE STATION Desktop SSD Enclosure. With a 40 Gbps Thunderbolt 3 connection, users can simultaneously edit in 4K, 8K and 12K, download content and create copies from up to 4 magazines.

The SanDisk Professional PRO-BLADE range is available now, with SSD magazines starting at $329 and TRANSPORT casing starting at $149. The price and availability of STATION have not yet been revealed.
