As the great Captain Haddock once said, ‘what a week, huh?’ It seems that in the run-up to Splatoon 3’s release, Nintendo has been hitting us with dark news left and right (splatter, If you want). This week, we got a chance to try out the upcoming game, and we’re sure some of you will do the same this weekend, as the Splatfest World Premier demo is now available to download from the Switch eShop.

While this week’s Gamescom Opening Night Live and Nintendo Treehouse showcase had us looking to the future, you may want to take a smaller-scale approach to this weekend’s games with mouse-based Islets. and RITE running on Switch consoles.

Elsewhere in Nintendo Life, we delve into our GoldenEye data for the N64 game’s 25th anniversary, go into bite mode on our visit to Tokyo’s Kirby Cafe, and make some spooky changes to our Cursed to Golf review.

But now, the weekend is finally here and we’re ready to kick back with some good comfort games. Three members of the Nintendo Life team discuss their game plans below, and we’d love to hear what you’re playing via our comments section. Happy reading!

This weekend I’m taking the Eurostar from Germany to England… which means a lot of Slay The Spire and more time on 13 Sentinels, nothing new! Sorry for being so repetitive and predictable!

But, since I’ve been to Gamescom this week, I’ve played and watched a lot of games that I’m excited about now, though I don’t know if all of them are coming to Switch. Does that count? There are vikings on trampolines, animal pit, BirthAlias, Beside the lake, and Fall of Porcupine look SO interesting and beautiful. I hope everyone comes to Switch! But I’m also thinking that I should get a Steam Deck…

I haven’t had to confess anything about ‘What Are You Playing’ for a while, so let’s change that: I’ve never actually played a splatoon play. I have tried but not really for more than a few minutes at a time. So this weekend, I’m going to dive into the Splatoon 3 demo. My first Splatfest, huh? If you see an Octoling thrashing around and doing it terribly, it’s probably me. Sorry in advance, Team Scissors!

That’s probably all I’ll have time for this weekend – obviously I’ll be diving into Xenoblade Chronicles 3 post-game, but a little less playtime feels like a good thing.

This weekend, for me, will be a world of building and decorating furniture. So when my couch is Finally Inside, what better way to relax than to continue my Splatoon 2 update? One way or another, I’ll have some skill in the game for the release of the next sequel.

I’m also looking for some gaming comfort for the next few days, so there’s no doubt I’ll be returning to my beloved Zelda. Hopefully, I’ll be able to progress with Skyward Sword a bit more than I have in the past; motion controls are off, of course. However, I’ve also been listening to the Breath of the Wild soundtrack a lot this week, so another taste of the latest incarnation of Hyrule Field may be calling me for some cozy relaxation.

As always, thanks for reading! Be sure to leave us a comment below with your game plans for the weekend!
